Gary Smith, VP Finance

Mr. Smith brings broad experience in management, finance and economic analysis as it relates to telecommunications services in both regulated and competitive markets and in the expansion and evolution of telecommunications infrastructure. His telecom experience includes management, network engineering, capital budgeting, corporate planning and telecom regulation. Mr. Smith’s 34 years in the telecom industry ranges from a regional government owned telephone company which evolved through various stages of market liberalization, privatization and ultimately to a national entity. He has direct experience in developing economic evaluations for taking highly competitive services as well as regulated services to market. He leads teams of highly skilled staff in the development of economic studies and cost data bases all related to the introduction of modern telecommunications services such as wireless communications, internet expansion, digital television service, Voip, etc. ,as well as legacy services. He also has expertise in the development of cost data and economic analysis for the purpose of acquiring approval from regulatory bodies for the implementation and pricing of regulated services and in the determination of any required subsidies. Such evaluations adhere to telecom regulatory bodies’ guidelines and directives, as required for obtaining regulatory approval.
